Readiness Programs

The REAL DEAL LIFE SKILLS Readiness Program and the Children Of Light are community-based programs designed to present participants with the opportunity to receive valuable life skills training and essential information that will allow them to become well-rounded, functional, law biding members of our society. In families, where both parents reside in the home, both work hard outside of the home, in most cases, for the accomplishing the almost impossible task of making ends meet. In the case of single parent households, the situation could be more difficult. In either case, parents’ time with their children is limited.

 

There are many examples where these conditions leaves a large number of children, in our schools and classrooms. Lacking the basic skills and social graces necessary for them to take advantage of many of life’s opportunities while they are young and as they get older. 

 

The REAL DEAL LIFE SKILLS Readiness Program is an 8-section, instructional program where participants are told exactly what to say, how react and how to behave with social grace and confidence, in almost any social setting. Participants receive valuable life skills that foster good behavior, tolerance, anger management and conflict resolution techniques. The sections include:

  1.  What Are Manners: Why do we need them
  2.  Respecting Yourself & Others: Where is the love
  3.  Taking Responsibility For Yourself & Others
  4. Making The Good Impression: Presentation Matters
  5.  Attitude Adjustment: How to maintain PMA all day (Positive Mental Attitude)
  6. Customer Service & Telephone Etiquette
  7. Basic Skills (Table Etiquette, Small Talk, Goal Setting, etc.)
  8. Money Management

 

All youth participants are required to attend RDLS program weekly, or as directed, as well as, attend one day of tutoring weekly or as needed to qualify for stipend. Young Adults will attend RDLS program Monday-Friday until graduation to receive stipend. Not following program rules may result in reduction or disqualification of stipend.

 

 

The Children Of Light

Once participants complete the REAL DEAL LIFE SKILLS Readiness Program, they are given the opportunity to join the Children Of Light and continue their training.
